Matthews Wong is a software engineer based in Tangerang, Indonesia. He is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer at Commsult APAC and works across DevOps and cloud infrastructure, ERP systems and web development.
I build Commsult APAC's MCP Console and Gateway, which connects AI tools to Bitbucket, Jira and the company's ERP systems behind OAuth. Before that I ran its cloud infrastructure, and I still build ERP software and web apps end to end.
Two virtual internships in 2024, then two years at Commsult APAC that took me from writing UI tests to running cloud infrastructure, and now to building the company's AI platform. Alongside the job I finished a degree and built two products of my own.
PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk
A project-based virtual internship with Bank Mandiri and Rakamin Academy: Android apps in Kotlin, with SQLite storage and the UI and security patterns a bank expects.

A data science internship with id/x partners: exploratory analysis, visualisation, and turning findings into a story a business can act on.
Commsult APAC
My first role at Commsult APAC: automated UI tests with WebdriverIO and Mocha, reusable test scripts, and Allure reports the whole team could read.
Commsult APAC
The move into DevOps: uptime alerting for production sites in Indonesia and Germany, Grafana monitoring, an on-call rota with escalation chains, Ansible and Docker Swarm.
Commsult APAC
Deployments across every environment, services moved from public IPs behind load balancers, and SonarQube quality gates added to the CI/CD pipelines.
Commsult APAC
Designed cloud infrastructure across AWS, Google Cloud and DigitalOcean, ran internal apps on Google Cloud, and started the company's MCP Gateway to centralise and audit every MCP server.
Commsult APAC
Building the company's MCP Console and Gateway: one secure front door for AI tools, connecting 20+ MCP servers to Bitbucket, Jira and the company's own ERP systems, with every server wrapped in OAuth.
Most projects touch all three: the business logic, the app people use, and the infrastructure that keeps it running.
CI/CD pipelines, containers, monitoring and cloud infrastructure on AWS, Google Cloud and DigitalOcean. My thesis load-tested a production platform and gated its deploys on SLOs.

Docker Swarm has no Kubernetes-style Horizontal Pod Autoscaler, so during my SGU thesis I built one myself: a Bash daemon with asymmetric streak consensus and a cooldown window.
